2016 Auditions are Closed!

Directors of nearly 40 schools, from throughout the state, registered student auditions for the inaugural 2016 All-Illinois Junior Band.  Audition recordings are now being blindly evaluated to determine membership in the AIJB Festival.  Results will be emailed to participating directors by Nov. 20.

Auditions are Open!

Thank you for your interest in having your students audition for the 2016 All-Illinois Junior Band (AIJB).  AIJB is the first auditioned statewide (IL) middle school honor band in decades.  Eighty-Two students will be selected for this inaugural ensemble which will rehearse and perform at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on January 15 & 16, 2016. Under the baton of Associate Director of Bands Dr. Linda Moorhouse, the AIJB will perform in the Krannert Center’s Foellinger Great Hall.

Auditions are now open!  Illinois Middle School Band Directors may now contact Wayne Gordon (gordon.w@nb27.org) for instructions on how to create their free director account.  Auditions will be accepted through Friday, November 6.

Audition Procedure

  1. Director registers for a free director account.  Contact Wayne Gordon (gordon.w@nb27.org) for instructions.
  2. Following the creation of the director account, directors may register their student applications and upload audition recordings. Only recordings submitted through the online portal will be accepted.
  3. An audition fee of $10 per application is required to process the application recording. (Checks payable to All-Illinois Junior Band, PO Box 501, Glenview, IL 60025. Invoice may be printed following student registration.)
  4. Recordings will be blindly evaluated by independent adjudicators. Students will be selected, and have chairs assigned, strictly through the audition score.
